It's been a l-o-n-g day!  We started at 6:30 am, lost an hour and got to our condo at 7:30 pm.  We managed to avoid all the bad weather that spawned all the tornadoes and had very good weather for traveling.  We took a scenic route until we got to St Petersburg then we finished on I-75.  We were disappointed at Destin.  I don't know if it's typical for this time of year, but we had fog every day that didn't lift until the afternoon & then it was cloudy.  Here at Ft Myers it is in the 80's and sunny.  Both Jim & I were sick with colds & congestion while in Destin, but we have recovered.

Will keep you posted on our activities.

Jim just got an E-mail from work that his cell phone number is being given to a new employee so he won't be answering it anymore.  Randy didn't think Jim was using it enough for work.  So if a woman answers (if you call by mistake) you'll know why.

Destin is still pretty cold and cloudy with not much change for the next few days except maybe some T-storms.  Looking forward to Ft Myers.

It's been a few days but we didn't have free Internet service at the casino & I was too tired last night.  We are in Destin, FL for the next week.  If you want to call us our number is 850-837-8866 ext 406.  It is quite a big complex & our unit is very nice.

We took a lot of pictures of Graceland & I'm going to try and put them on Facebook (not tonight).  It was very interesting and we were glad we went.

Jim got sick the 2nd day of our trip.  It's a cold or sinus & he lost his voice for awhile.  The smoke at the casinos really played havoc and made him worse.  We couldn't even eat at any of the casinos because of the smoke.  He lasted thru about half of the nine casinos & I visited the rest on my own.  They are very big & nice and I enjoyed myself immensely.  Unfortunately, I didn't win.

Trip South Feb, 2012

Well, we're off!  Started at 7am on Tues morning under cloudy skies.  We didn't run into snow flurries until Holland and then had a little rain.  The weather man didn't get it right!  It was much better than predicted.  We are in Marion, IL for the night.  We got here at 3PM our time.  We will be headed for Memphis and Graceland tomorrow.

Mon, 11/14/2011 Ft Myers FLA

Hi to the grandkids,

Grandpa & I go for a walk every morning when the tide is low.  Yesterday we counted over 200 starfish on the shore by the bridge at Carlos Pass.  We also saw a nest with 2 ospry and lots of sea urchins.  Later in the day we saw lots of sand dollars.  In the afternoon we usually see dolphins.  Sometimes they are close to shore.  The weather is going to be in the mid 80's all week long so it's nice to be out on the gulf.  Our condo is at a very nice resort with lots of activities if we choose to participate.  There is suffleboard, Ladder ball, botchy ball, bean bag toss & darts.  Every day they serve root beer floats & sometimes ice cream cones or sundaes.  We will be home either on Sunday or Monday.

Ft. Myers, Fla October 2011

Well, we are at the Mariner's Boathouse now and I have our number.  It is 239-463-2189.  We have WiFi in our condo so we will be checking our E-mails daily.  We can see the sunsets from our living room.  Today (Friday) was the first cold day but it will be getting back in the 80's tomorrow.  We needed to move & go grocery shopping so it didn't matter to us much.  We attached two of the sculptures we saw last week.

So far our trip has been running smoothly.  We are in Tallahassee tonight.  We had some rain today but nothing bad.  The rest of the week into next should be sunny & warm.
